This product is intended to be used as a demonstration specimen for classes studying either cardio-pulmonary function or fetal circulation. Where the individual veal hearts (Cat #EDB-101) will generally not show the ligamentum arteriosum, the remnant of the fetal ductus arteriosis, this structure and the fossa ovalis are readily seen in these specimens.

For optimal use, teachers should anticipate spending some time (30 minutes or so) doing some preliminary dissecting to remove fat and connective tissue before using in class. This specimen is also large and teachers should anticipate needing a large dissecting pan.
