West Hill Biological Resources is proud to support the In-Touch Science program. ITS was originally developed by the Cornell Cooperative Extension as an after school program for children age 8-11 (Grades 3-5). The program is designed to help students:
- communicate what they are observing and learning,
- understand the science connection between two fields of study, and
- recognize those science concepts in daily experiences.
The activities engage students natural curiosity about their everyday experiences with natural and scientific phenomena. By emphasizing manipulative materials, ITS activities encourage students to explore things that interest them and learn to test their ideas about how things work. Each of the 4 ITS programs emphasizes the common scientific basis of what may seem to be unrelated areas of study.
